REGION 9 SWIMMERS CLINCHES 9 GOLD AND 4 SILVER MEDALS

Region 9 Swimming Team, composed of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) and Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), clinched nine (9) gold and four (4) silver medals in the 2023 National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Games at the New Clark City Aquatic Center on October 2-3, 2023. The team gave a good start to the competition as the region 9 swimmers showcased their formidable skills in a 10-lane, 50-meter main pool. The victorious Region 9 swimmers were the following: 1. Imee Joyce M. Saavedra (ZPPSU) 5 Gold Medals in 200m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 100m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke and 200 IM. ———- 2. Marianne Mae C. Elopre (ZPPSU) 3 Gold Medals in 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly ———- 3. Kathrina N. Harvey (WMSU) 1 Gold in 100m Butterfly and 4 Silver Medals in 100m Breastroke, 200m Butterfly, 200m Breastroke and 200 IM The team was headed by the dynamic coaches, Christian T. RESEARCH CAPABILITY | To delve into the heart and core of research, the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University – Graduate School, in collaboration with the university Professional Continuing Education Office, conducted a three-day research capability training workshop among professors and students held at the College of Engineering Building, October 04-06

Identified students were studying for a masters degree, doctorate, and professional education certificate (PEC) at ZPPSU. The event gives the participants an opportunity to see how they will properly conceptualize their respective studies as well as to advance dissertations in future. Fortunately, the participants will earn 15 points, as the seminar workshop is accredited to the Philippine Regulation Commission. The lone and esteemed speaker of the event was Dr. Sarah O. Namoco from the University of Science and Technology of the Philippines (USTP), who has published a total of thirty-two (32) publications since 2016. Gracing the event were Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Roy Valesco, Dean of the Graduate School Dr. Elizabeth Jane P. Sebastian, Dean of the College of Teachers Education Dr. Rolando P. In an emphatic display, the Mens Football Team from Region 9 Zamboanga Peninsula advanced to the semifinals after they swept past the footballers from Region 3 Central Luzon by a commanding and lopsided win with a scoreline of 5-0 earlier today. The team was headed by determined coaches in the personalities of Dr. Clarita C. Cultura assisted by coach Mark Anthony Mejares and coach Antonio Buca. Our utmost gratitude to ZPPSU President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral and Comm. Jo Mark M. Libre for the constant support toward this SCUAA endeavor.
