Enhorabuena! Dr. Nelson P. Cabral ZPPSU President and Vice President for PASUC-Mindanao #OneZPPSU

Coordinating offices centered on student affairs and services of the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University have celebrated their achievements during the Mid-Year Performance Review and Evaluation on July 12. Dean of the Student Affairs and Services Dr. Rommel Guillermo, on his opening message, shared the pivotal objectives and goals of the office specifically to support students holistically as well as to align all efforts in moving forward. To note, OSAS team focuses on the three folds to include; (1.) Assessment of our goals; (2.) Assess our development; and (3.) Strategic alignment of the institution. Further, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Ma. Christina Wee extended her appreciation to the participants as the event has served a valuable opportunity for reflection and growth. “This is about understanding your strengths, identifying areas for improvement, and charting for continuous success,” Dr. Wee affirmed. The performance evaluation and review have given a huge shot for offices to see the needs of the university and the students. #OneZPPSU

The Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU), headed by the university president and vice president for PASUC-Mindanao, Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, attended the 2024 Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Annual Convention and General Assembly at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City, on July 15-17, 2024. The 2024 PASUC convention aims to create an inclusive platform for diverse stakeholders to share different perspectives and engage in collaborative discussions, centered on this year’s theme “Advancing Competitiveness of SUCs for National Development”. The convention was also attended by notable ZPPSU Vice Presidents: VPAF Josephine Sulasula, VPAA Dr. Roy Valesco, VPRE Dr. Rolando Malalay and VPSAS Dr. Ma. Cristina Wee; Hon. Rachel E. A Memorandum of Understanding for Academic International Linkages and Cooperation has inked between Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University and Association of Filipino Teachers and Educators in America (AFTEA) recently at New York, USA. This aims to develop collaborative research projects, professional developments, seminars, workshops, and other areas of academic engagements of the two affiliated organizations Photos ZPPSU-VPAA #OneZPPSU

This effort is a platform to provide opportunities to foster educational collaboration, cultural and intellectual exchange, with their international counterparts. The Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) has accredited Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University’s Research Ethics Committee (ZPPSU-REC) as Level 1 Research Ethics Committee from July 3, 2024, to July 2, 2025. The ZPPSU-REC is headed by the esteemed ZPPSU-REC Chair, Atty. Marti W. Gregorio, LLM. Pursuant to Section 12 of the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Act of 2013, the constitution of the PHREB states that, “The PHREB, shall ensure adherence to the universal principles for the protection of human participants in research.” In order to fulfill its functions, PHREB has set requirements to guide in the conduct of quality ethical review of research by means of an accreditation as a requirement for all Research Ethics Committee (REC). Moreover, a Research Ethics Committee (REC) is an independent body responsible for making decisions regarding the review, approval, and implementation of research protocols/proposals, in order to ensure the protection of the rights, safety, and well-being of human participants and promotes integrity of research data. The PHREB has granted ZPPSU-REC in compliance with the CHED Memorandum issued on March 30, 2015, by Chairperson Patricia Licuanan, where all SUCs Research Ethics Review Committees must register and be accredited with the PHREB. #OneZPPSU

To properly manage critical medical emergencies, such as cardiac arrest and obstructed airways, the medical team of the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University attended the two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Training Course held at the ZPPSU Medical-Dental Building on June 29 & 30. The Basic Life Support Training is notably essential because it provides people with the knowledge and skills they need to respond effectively in times of emergency situations, with a focus on saving lives, promoting recovery, and ensuring patient safety. Learning sessions to include were Mouth-to-Mouth Breaths, Rescue Breathing, Breaths with an Advanced Airway, and Adult, Child, & Infant Choking among others. ZPPSU Physician led by Dr. Franz Chezka Kathrize A. Ochotorena with her life-saving staff, expressed utmost gratitude to the Health Force Zamboanga Training Center staff as the esteemed facilitators.
