ZPPSU leads ceremonial turnover, inception activity of CHED-funded equipment

Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) reached a historic milestone in hosting a ceremonial turnover and inception activity at the Medical-Dental and Senator Edgardo Angara Building on February 19. Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, the transformative university President of ZPPSU, expressed profound gratitude for the unrelenting support extended by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in driving the university toward its noble mission. Highlighting the significance of CHED-funded equipment, Dr. Cabral emphasized its role in advancing engineering and technology programs, enriching curriculums, and fostering technical prowess among students and faculty. In a momentous ceremony, ZPPSU witnessed the ceremonial turnover of CHED-funded equipment, including investments such as: 1. Advance Mechatronics and Industrial Automation Laboratory – 30.7 Million Pesos 2. Learning Management System Platforms and E-Learning Solutions – 9.9 Million Pesos 3. Enhanced Teaching and Learning of Engineering and Technology Programs through E-Learning Solutions – 9.4 Million Pesos 4. Soil Testing Laboratory – 10 Million Pesos 5. Upgrading of Laboratory Equipment of College of Information and Computing Sciences – 10 Million Pesos These investments, totaling millions of pesos, outline ZPPSU’s commitment to fostering innovation and academic excellence within its campus. Dr. Mary Sylvette T. Gunigundo, the OIC Director IV of CHED Office of Planning, Research, and Knowledge Management, along with Mayumi G. Belandres, OIC Chief of OPRKM RMD, provided invaluable insights into the dynamic landscape of Philippine Higher Education and the visionary programs spearheaded by CHED OPRKM, recognizing ZPPSU for its exceptional budget allocation among State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) nationwide. The ceremony culminated with a solemn ceremonial awarding and signing of the project’s notice to proceed, marking the official commencement of transformative endeavors envisioned for ZPPSU’s future. The distinguished gathering boasted the presence of esteemed attendees from CHED, including Dr. Rody P. Garcia, Officer-in-Charge Director IV of CHED Region IX, Dr. Nelia A. Alibin, Director IV of CHED Region XII IDIG Technical Working Group Member, as well as other key figures such as Myra Paz B. Manalo, Diana C. Aguilar, Gerhald I. Villasis, Jamie Joyce C. Eight business owners of Polytechnic IGP Commercial Hub have inked a contract of agreement with authorities of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University headed by President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral today, February 20. The agreement aims to strengthen and formalize the solemn partnership between the concessionaires and university, as well as for the legality of the business operations. The stores to be operationalized are the following: *Black Plate – Food and Drinks *Kingfrost Coffee Shop *Allen One 24/7 Convenience Store *Elead Bookshop and School Supplies *Fabulouz – D artz and craftz *Cafe Jose *Coca-Cola Beverages *Ole-ole Restaurant Along with Dr. Cabral were Vice President for Administration and Finance Prof. Josephine L. ZPPSU-IGP Commercial Hub is soon to serve you!

An occular inspection was held during the soft opening of the commercial hub of the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University led by President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, together with other university key functionaries, on February 15. Some of the concessionaires have already begun to operationalize their business stores in the setting. The ZPPSU-IGP Commercial Hub is strategically located at the Rotonda, Baliwasan Zamboanga City, near Western Mindanao State University and Zamboanga National High School-West. All are provided to include an educational hub, coffee station, convenience shop, and bookstore, among others. The grand opening of the ZPPSU-IGP Commercial Hub will be spearheaded by IGP Director Dr. Dorothy Joy D. ZPPSU, DPWH sit for Infra Joint Validation

The coordination meeting to take off the DPWH-SUC Joint Validation for the Infrastructure Projects outlined at the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2024 from the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University was duly held at the conference room today, February 15. The meeting focused on laying the groundwork for the joint validation process with the DPWH-9 team, stressing the importance of thorough assessment, delineation of roles and responsibilities, and document preparation for successful validation efforts. ZPPSU President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral has underscored the university’s objectives, emphasizing the significance of ensuring the quality and sustainability of the infrastructure projects as well as highlighting the need for them to be “shovel ready” for prompt implementation. Also, in attendance with President Cabral were ZPPSU officials, including VP for Administration and Finance Prof. Josephine Sulasula, ZPPSU Legal Officer Atty. Marti Gregorio, Chief Administrative Officer Ms. Carina M. Abidin, Supervising Administrative Officers Mr. Arnel Lee and Maria Cristina Vergara, ZPPSU Engineer Ryan Catamco with other unit directors and heads. Further, representatives from the DPWH-9 Planning and Design Division, Bridge and Other Public Works Design Section, including Engr. Jocelyn T. Bruces, Ar. Judy Ann F. Alcedo, Engr. Julmali A.
