Comm’r Aguilar-Ong commends working students, solo parents, PWD graduates

ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY – Commission on Higher Education – Commissioner Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong acknowledged the hard work and resilience to finish the tertiary level of education, among graduates, highlighting solo-parents, persons with disabilities, working students, and the firsts in the family to graduate.

Dr. Ong recognized the hardship they have put for the diploma, to include the regular students, in her keynote speech at the 107th Commencement Exercises of the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University recently.

“I am so proud of you. Because today, you march not only with your dreams, but the dreams of the whole family and the whole clan. You brought it today in this court. With this diploma, I hope your life will change,” Commissioner Ong said.

She also expressed appreciation to the graduates to those who almost thought about giving up but chose not to, in spite of life struggles and shortcomings.

Further, Dr. Ong advised the ZPPSU graduates to work hard in silence, say yes to opportunities, and lift others as you rise.

“Work even when no one is watching, be a yes person, and don’t gate keep anything – have that right attitude to training others,” she affirmed.

The Commissioner is hopeful that as they ponder their next moves in life, they will consider the three attitudes she shared when they’re at their respective jobs.

“Lastly, be a leader of your own,” Dr. Ong exclaimed. (JRA/ABC/Public Information Office)
