ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY (PIO) — Faculty members and administrative personnel of the university attended the orientation on the YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan) program of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), held at the Engineering Building today, September 03.
The mentioned initiative is noted to be the newest primary care program, alongside the Konsulta, that is designed to provide more accessible and affordable healthcare to all Filipino people.
“Philhealth ensures that benefits will be given to its Filipino members,” PhilHealth Social Insurance Officer Ms. Maida V. Milanes affirmed.


The agency underscored YAKAP’s innovative upgrades and expansions in enabling care services, boundless participation of healthcare providers, and patient pathway for continuous care.
Further, the healthcare personnel encouraged the university to choose and partner with a clinic or hospital that is YAKAP program accredited.
“Early detection is better than cure,” Ms. Milanes said.


A total of thirty-four (34) healthcare providers in Zamboanga City are now YAKAP accredited, including Zamboanga City Medical Center and Mindanao Central Sanitarium.
PhilHealth officers — Mr. Rafael Aizon and Mr. Erlisli Luceñada also shared insights during the orientation.
Meanwhile, the ‘PhilHealth Gamot’ program is still underway and soon to be implemented with partnered pharmacies in the city. (JRA/ABC/Photos: JBM/Public Information Office)
