Medicare Plus, MLhuillier as healthcare partners of ZPPSU

ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY (PIO) — Medicare Plus and MLhuillier ZambaSulTa Region inked a Memorandum of Agreement with Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University – Faculty Association to provide healthcare support and services held at the Engineering Building yesterday, July 29.

Per Department of Budget and Management No. 2024-6, dated December 12, 2024, regular and casual faculty members and administrative staff of the university are now eligible for a medical allowance.

“The Medical Allowance is more than a financial benefit; it is a reflection of our institution’s resolve to honor the dignity and health of every employee,” Faculty Association President and Regent Hon. Rachel Lorena said.

The signing ceremony marked a leap in advancing the health and well-being of the ZPPSU personnel, who contribute toward the institution’s excellence.

“This collaboration represents a mutual commitment to delivering accessible and high-quality healthcare services, fostering a healthier and more productive atmosphere, particularly for the employees of our institution,” Medical Officer Dr. Franz Chezka Kathrize Ochotorena affirmed.

Further, ZPPSU President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral expressed fullest support for the initiatives of the partnered Health Maintenance Organization and bannered the health and wellness building.

“The university is the first to have a health and wellness building not just in the region, but also nationwide. Together, let us move forward with purpose, healthier, and more united than ever,” Dr. Cabral said.

Meanwhile, Vice President for Administration and Finance Ms. Josephine L. Sulasula authored the internal implementing rules, guidelines, and procedures for the release, use, and monitoring of the medical allowance, which made the implementation a reality.

“To be healthy is wealthy. With our healthcare partners, our health will be monitored, and we can achieve quality of life,” VP Sulasula said.

The ceremony was personally attended by Medicare Plus Executive Director Dr. Philip Fortuno and MLhuillier ZambaSulTa Regional Manager Mr. Rodel Falcasantos.

Witnessing the event were ZPPSU Vice Presidents, Faculty Association Officers, Administrative Officers, and other officials.
