An inclusive workshop on mainstreaming Gender and Development in research and extension, as well as the application of the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) was held among advocates of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, in a hotel today, April 03.
“As GAD advocates, we must recognize that gender mainstreaming is not just an institutional requirement—it is a moral and social responsibility. It is our collective duty to ensure that research and extension services become powerful catalysts for change, breaking barriers and fostering a more equitable society,” Vice President for Administration and Finance Ms. Josephine L. Sulasula said.
The community is encouraged to engage, collaborate, and apply every learning to the workplace, ensuring that gender inclusivity is deeply embedded in our university’s culture and practices.
GAD expert, Asst. Prof. Arnold M. Ferolino, a member of the National Gender Resource Pool of the Philippine Commission on Women, led an intensive discussion covering fundamental to more advanced topics on mainstreaming GAD in research and extension.
Mr. Ferolino also discussed the Introduction to Gender Analysis and the Harmonized Gender and Development (GAD) Guidelines.
This initiative was spearheaded by University GAD Director Prof. Mary Fe M. Dela Cruz, with the themes, “Advancing Gender-Responsive Research and Extension through the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines.”
