Revolutionizing Communication and Efficiency: AI language in Civil Engineering Seminar

𝗠𝗿. 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗚. 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘇, GE 117: Science, Technology, and Society Instructor, organized the seminar “𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: 𝗔𝗜 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴” with the theme “𝗔𝗜 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀” at the 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰. It was attended by the 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗖. 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗿, and 𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗘—𝗭𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀, with the support of the 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗢𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗦𝗖𝗘 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗔𝗹𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗱 𝗖. 𝗜𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿, a beacon of excellence in 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 and currently the 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, emphasized the necessity of perceiving AI as a tool for knowledge augmentation rather as a reliance. He argued for its efficient and effective inclusion in student manuals, emphasizing safe use. 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹, the seminar highlighted both the potential advantages and difficulties of integrating AI in civil engineering, offering insightful information.𝗕𝗦𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 were urged to use AI as a helpful tool in their academic and professional efforts, with a focus on appropriate application. ZPPSU JUANAS ON WHEELS

In line with the celebration of International Women’s Month, empowered women employees of the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University explored the basics of automotive technology held at ZPPSU Lot 2 Automotive Shop today, March 15. The explorations aimed to raise awareness and safety among Juanas, who own and are exposed to driving vehicles, including cars and motorcycles. Among the vital parts and needs of the vehicles to check from time-to-time was the BLOWBAGETS — Battery, Light, Oil, Water, Brakes, Air, Gas, Engine, Tires, and Self. The BLOWBAGETS exploration was led by Dr. Azul D. Lacson, together with its lecturers from the Bachelor of Science in Automotive Technology (BSAT). One of the participants was the Vice President for Administration and Finance Prof. Josephine Sulasula, who expressed interest in learning the basics yet vital as a wheel owner. ZPPSU-EPDU spotlights milestones, student-centric development

Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) recently conducted the ZPPSU-Extenal Program Delivering Units’ General Assembly highlighting celebrations of milestones and a firm commitment to student-centric development, which was held across campuses in Malangas, Vitali, Siay, and Kabasalan recently. The event underscored the university’s dedication to fostering a positive and collaborative environment. EPDU Dean Dr. Kier Dela Calzada emphasized the significance of teamwork in achieving the university’s mission and vision, especially as it gears up for the launch of ZPPSU – Bayog Campus, marking a new phase in its development. Moreover, highlighting the importance of fostering a supportive learning environment within the university, the leadership cohort, led by VP Josephine L. Sulasula with VPs Dr. Cristina Wee and Dr. Rolando Malalay celebrated notable milestones in accreditation and research, as these achievements underscored the faculty and government personnel’s steadfast commitment to excellence and accountability. President Cabral placed students at the forefront of the university’s agenda, emphasizing the role of attitude, behavior, and character in fostering institutional excellence. Looking ahead, plans were outlined for enhanced collaboration with local government entities, aiming to drive joint projects and programs for EPDU campuses. ZPPSU campus to launch in Bayog, Zambo Sur

The Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) and the Municipal Government of Bayog have joined forces to establish ZPPSU Campus in Bayog Zamboanga del Sur, which was recently formalized with the signing of agreements at the Bayog Municipal Hall. The ceremony solidified the commitment of both parties to provide high-quality education to the community through the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). A significant part of the event was the signing of the Deed of Donation, which allocated 119 thousand square meters of land for the campus. Hon. Mayor Celso A. Matias and Hon. Vice Mayor Jocel L. Babasa of Bayog expressed appreciation for a partnership with ZPPSU to bring higher education programs to the municipal and emphasized the importance of addressing residents’ educational needs. Further, the ZPPSU Vice Presidents voiced their strong support for bringing higher education to Bayog. They emphasized the importance of providing quality education and social services to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all in the municipality. President Nelson stressed the institution’s duty to provide quality higher education in Bayog, viewing it as both a calling and a mission. Additionally, Dr. Cabral reiterated this idea, highlighting the significance of inclusivity and assistance in nurturing a culture of academic excellence. ZPPSU joins MASTS National Sports Summit in Pagadian City

The two-day Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) National Sports Summit Workshop was attended by leaders and coaches from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), held at the JH Cerilles State College and concluded last March 7, 2024. The summit aimed to promote sustainable sports development across Mindanao and to the entire Philippines. Dr. Rosales, President of JH Cerilles State College, hosted the event, extending strong support for sports and cultural activities and fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and strategies. Moreover, MASTS President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral announced that MASTS 2024 will be hosted by JH Cerilles in September 2024, with the participation of 35 SUCs from Mindanao. Further, Dr. Cabral expressed gratitude to dignitaries, sports directors, and coaches for their unwavering support. Another key speaker, Commissioner Edward L. Hayco of the Philippines Sports Commission (PSC) expressed a strong vision for sports leadership, emphasizing how having supportive coaches who genuinely care can make a big difference for athletes. Comm. Hayco encouraged MASTS institutions to become regional training centers, advancing the national grassroots effort. The representative from the Provincial Government of Pagadian, Mr. Glendel Oyao outlined robust security measures for MASTS 2024 and reaffirmed the province’s steadfast support for sports development. Prof. Elbert “Bong” Atilano Sr. facilitated a parallel session on sports networking, reinforcing the critical role of local government units and legal frameworks in implementing grassroots sports initiatives. On the second day, the summit concluded with an oath-taking ceremony for MASTS Association officers, who solemnly pledged to uphold the core responsibilities and obligations of their roles. #OneZPPSU

Waving the purple flags of nobility and power as strong women, the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University community commenced the blithesome month-long celebration of the 2024 National Women’s Month, through a purple parade and Juana contests at the ZPPSU Gymnasium on March 04. Some student representatives from the respective colleges joined the Musika Juana (Song Writing Contest) and Juana Dance Competition, expressing stories and cries for equality and inclusivity. ZPPSU secures 1.5M+ worth to enhance ISO project

The Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) has received a significant boost with a 1.5 million pesos grant to strengthen the Government Quality Management Program (GQMP) Technical Assistance ISO 9000:2015 project. The commitment signing ceremony, hosted at the Development Academy of the Philippines in Ortigas Center, Pasig City, signals a major milestone for ZPPSU. Represented by ZPPSU Vice President for Administration and Finance Josephine Sulasula together with Prof. Atika Bidin and Prof. Christine Sisnorio, reaffirming their dedication to cultivating a culture of excellence and efficiency within governmental operations.
