ZPPSU presents proposed budget for FY 2026 at RDC IX

Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) presented its proposed programs and projects during the Regional Development Council IX (RDC IX) Review of Priority Programs and Projects for the FY 2026 Budget, held at the Grand Astoria Hotel on February 5. University President 𝐃𝐫. 𝐍𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐏. 𝐂𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐥, together with the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance Ms. Josephine L. Sulasula, Budget Officer Ms. Zandra Gale Tablante, Supervising Administrative Officer for Finance Ms. Maria Cristina Vergara, and Planning Officer Engr. Edabel Jane Falcasantos presented the university’s major programs and projects. The three (3) key higher education programs proposed include the Higher Education Program, Research Program, and Technical Advisory and Extension Program, with a total budget amounting to PHP 2.6 billion. RDC IX Chairperson Honorable Mayor John Dalipe, along with Maria Felicidad R. Guerrero, RDC IX Acting Vice-Chairperson and NEDA IX OIC-Regional Director, convened the Joint Advisory Committee and Executive Committee for the RDC IX Review of Priority Programs and Projects for the FY 2026 Budget. The event was attended by RDC IX panel members and other concerned agencies and private sectors. Zamboanga City Volleyball Club (ZCVC) made history after having its debut on PNVF U-21 National Championship snatching the silver. Despite falling short against the well established University of the East Boys Volleyball Team on the championship match, ZCVC showed tenacity and resilience giving a great fight from the first set down to the fourth. This milestone of our youngsters, is an evidence of a well-rounded sports development program of the university and the city. Castillo, Miguel, Javier, Sioting, Manas, together with their head coach Mr. Kerwin Francisco and Asst. Coach Dr. Sammy Paringit, all aimed high in representing our region. ZPPSU holds #NAM2025 opening today

Once again, Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University is set to highlight the talents of student-artists, who continue to represent the institution in various contests both in local and national platforms. The opening of the month-long celebration has officially kicked off this morning, which was facilitated by the ZPPSU-Office of the Culture and Arts headed by Ms. Jessamine Andajao and Supreme Student Council Adviser Mr. Marc Jones Barredo and SSC President Hon. Jet Ryan Lozano. Following the commemoration, the SSC has also distributed the ceiling fans among the local student offices of the different colleges. ZPPSU facilitates executive course on research writing for publications

Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University-Graduate School, in partnership with the Advanced Studies Consortium, Graduate School-Student Organization, and Professional Continuing Education conducted a three-day Executive Course on Mastering Research Writing for Publication in Scopus-Indexed Q1 and Q2 Refereed Journals, held at Astoria Hotel from January 24 to 26, this year. The course will guide participants through the critical stages of research writing and publication, equipping them with the skills needed to produce high-quality research that meets international standards, while supporting their professional growth. Further, this aimed to equip the participants with foundational and advanced academic writing and research publication skills as well as to provide them with the tools necessary to publish in reputable academic journals and avoid predatory outlets. The event was dubbed, “Elevating Scholarly Impact: Mastering the Art of Research Writing for Global Publication.” Dr. Lacap, the resource person, ended the session with confounding words — to do research as a habit and to abide by the research ethics properly. “Motivation is what gets you started; habit is what keeps you going,” he quoted. The participants were from the West Visayas State University, Mindanao State University-Sulu, Hardan Furigay Colleges Foundation Inc.-Basilan, J.H. ZPPSU holds groundbreaking ceremony of academic building in Vitali Campus

A formal groundbreaking ceremony was held for the construction of a four-story academic building featured with 20 classrooms and a roof deck, held at the ZPPSU EPDU-Gregorio Vitali Campus (Phase 1) on January 23, this year. The establishment of this facility amounts to nearly 50 million pesos, funded by Senator Loren Legarda for the university. “Today, we mark the day when this dream for the Vitali Campus will come to fruition. We are forever grateful for the generosity of the Gregorio family, who have found it in their hearts to share their land, allowing EPDU-Vitali to finally have a campus they can call their own,” expressed by the University President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral. The contract was signed by ZPPSU President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, along with representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)—Antonio A. Gonzales, District Engineer and Chief of the Maintenance Division—and the President of Zamboanga 3VC Construction Incorporated, Engr. Ladeslao S. Darunday (contractor), along with ZPPSU Vice President for Administration and Finance, Ms. Josephine L. Sulasula, and Resident Engineer, Ryan Catamco. Dr. Kier Dela Calzada, Dean of EPDU, expressed his gratitude for the full support of the University President and key officials. “We have built not just a facility but a symbol of hope, resilience, and dedication,” Dr. Dela Calzada said with heartfelt gratitude.
