ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY (PIO) – Distinguished student leaders from the different student governing bodies across the campuses of the university in Zamboanga Peninsula archipelago collated for the four-day Leadership Congress activity following a series of upskilling leadership sessions, held in Zamboanga City from July 23 to 26, this year.
The participants were welcomed by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) and the entire University Student Council, quoting that this gathering is historic – as they will engage with outstanding leaders from recognized Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) in the country, including University of the Philippines, Ateneo De Manila University, and the University Utara Malaysia.
“We open doors – not merely to another congress, but to new ideas, meaningful partnerships, lasting friendships that will transcend borders, and a future where leadership is defined not by position or prestige, but by purpose, integrity, and service,” OSAS Dean Dr. Rommel Guillermo affirmed in his opening remarks.
Further, Vice President Dr. Cyrus Pil Cadavedo challenged the participants to become future leaders who are committed to making an impactful and greater change in the country.
“It is our mission to hone our students to become productive and responsible individuals in the community – to become leaders, not to take advantage but to serve,” Dr. Cadavedo said.
A total of fifteen (15) student organizations with over sixty (60) leaders are in attendance along with their respective advisers.
The event is dubbed “Strengthening Student Leadership Through Collaboration: Connecting Philippines and ASEAN campuses, culture, and organization,” and was facilitated by the University Student Council, led by its adviser, Mr. Marc Jones Barredo.
