ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY (PIO) โ President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral encouraged the entire community to engage and commit to the internationalization efforts of the university as this envisions to be recognized in the World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI) through its unique best practices and impact-driven programs.
Just this week, the top authorities of the university underwent a three-day WURI training โ writeshop, aimed at strengthening the ZPPSUโs capacity to develop innovative institutional projects and programs aligned with the global standards and evaluation framework of WURI.
โPlease be committed to this [WURI training] so that we will achieve and succeed in the international rankings. Letโs be diligent, conscious, and sensitive on this matter, and leave a legacy for the university,โ Dr. Nelson P. Cabral emphasized.
To note, around the globe, WURI assesses higher education institutions’ real contributions to industry and society, highlighting innovative education, research, and engagement with society.
Founding President of The World University Network of Innovation (WUNI)โLeaders Dr. Robert Frederick Hayden Jr., personally led the event as the resource speaker โ accentuating the new roles of the universities from traditional learning institutions to innovation engines through teaching, research, partnerships, and impact.
โWe are here to understand the WURI framework, assess ZPPSUโs readiness to participate in the WURI rankings, and identify action steps and innovation opportunities,โ Dr. Hayden Jr. stressed.
On the last day, Western Mindanao State University Director for Internationalization and Global Ranking Officer Dr. Mario R. Obra Jr., presented its strategic and innovative initiatives that paved the way for its recognition in the WURI and other global rankings, sharing its practical approaches that ZPPSU may adapt to strengthen its internationalization efforts.
Further, the participants expressed deep appreciation for the new learning and became more fueled to expose the innovative and impactful programs of the university, as a premier technological university in Western Mindanao, to the world.
The university is now eyeing to participate and submit transformative programs and proposals to the prestigious 2027 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).
The event was spearheaded by the ZPPSU โ Office of Internationalization, led by its Director, Dr. Maria Cristina Andrade, and was held in a hotel in this city from July 20 to 22, this year.
