ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY — 112 Doctorate and Master’s graduates across various fields, and 128 PEC Program completers of Batch 2026 were honored during the 108th Commencement Exercises of the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, celebrating perseverance, pride and purpose, held at the Palacio Del Sur on May 19, this year.

“It is an honor to be here as we gather to celebrate our academic success—one that reflects the strength of the human spirit that carried us through this journey,” one of the graduates, Dr. Alfie M. Ontong affirmed.
A proud ZPPSU alumnus and Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology President Dr. Roy L. Valesco, served as the Keynote Speaker, commending the graduates for their discipline and dedication to academic excellence, noting that while many settle into comfort after reaching a milestone, they chose a more challenging path.

“You didn’t just survive the process; you conquered it,” Dr. Valesco underscored.
Adding more inspiration, Dr. Valesco stressed that graduate school is defined by purpose, not titles.

“The true value of your graduate education is not found in the title you’ve earned, but in the service you provide and the knowledge you give back,” the speaker said.
Further, Dr. Valesco challenged the graduates to embody collective success and shared growth, saying, “Prove to the world that excellence is not a solitary climb, but a collective ascent. When you rise, make sure you take someone with you.”

Delivering a challenging message inspired by a social media post, Dr. Manuelito B. Tibor, Jr., member of this year’s batch, encouraged his fellow graduates to “Stay Humble, Stay Hungry, and Stay True” as they move forward beyond the university walls, continuously pursuing excellence and purpose.

Under the inspiring theme, “Fostering Academic Excellence and Strengthening Global Education in the Pursuit of a World-Class Collaboration”, the event highlighted the university’s commitment to producing globally competent leaders equipped to contribute to their respective fields and communities.
