Future teachers take the challenge of practice teaching

To embrace the noblest profession in the world, more than 250 fourth-year students from the College of Teacher Education of the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) committed to be professional Pre-Service Teachers during the pinning ceremony held at the Grand Astoria Hotel, February 1. With their proud parents and special loved ones, the aspiring teachers slowly walked in the aisle with so much hope and pride that finally, one of their million dreams would be soon fulfilled. 91 students from the Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED), 66 from the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED), 41 from the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED), 49 from the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED), and 31 from the Bachelor of Secondary Education in Mathematics (BSED-Math) were officially pinned. CTE Dean Dr. Rolando Malalay has emphasized the importance of pinning ceremony — to oversee the successful transition of students to practice teachers. “The university is ready to help shape the professional life of our teachers and prepare them to take the challenges on educational paradigms,” Dr. Malalay said. The pinned ZPPSU educators are expected to have their internship program during the 2nd semester this year in different esteemed primary and secondary schools in Zamboanga City. KALAHI-CIDDS IN ZPPSU ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY CAMPUSES

Students from the three Extension Program Delivering Units of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University in Zamboanga Sibugay Province were given an opportunity to avail of the Cash for Work Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently. A total of 121 beneficiaries, of which 41 from Malangas campus, 40 from Siay campus, and 40 from Kabasalan campus, were officially validated. To note, the DSWD – KALAHI CIDDS is funded by the good office of Senator Imee Marcos. ZPPSU-Career Services and Public Employment Service Office headed by Prof. Anna Maria Gomez with Prof. Zcharina Tinaytina and the DSWD-9 staff personally visited the EPDU campuses for validation and orientation proper. We are encouraging Layout artists from our University to submit their entries. Please read the guidelines below ………………………………………………………………… LOGO MAKING CONTEST GUIDELINES The following are the guidelines and mechanics of the contest. 1. The contest is open to college students of various universities of Zamboanga City; 2. Participating schools, colleges, and universities are allowed to send a maximum of three (3) entries: 3. The logo must meet the below design brief: a) created in 8.5×13 size using any graphics editing tools or software; b) in digital format with a file extension of PNG, JPEG, or PDF in at least 300DPI resolution; c) against a white or transparent background; d) there are no restrictions in the number of colors to be used; e) include the name of the Zamboanga City Water District, f) must use elements that will recognizable and help promote ZCWD’s Vision, mission and core valves, such as ZC1D’s services, watershed, Water treatment plant, among others (Visit zewd gov.ph for more details); and g) free from any watermarks, electronic signature, initials, or name of the participant. 4. ZPPSU futures thinking unveils visionary roadmap for University long-term operations

To achieve the transformative goals of the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University in the coming years, a three-day event, dubbed the Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight Conference, was recently held at the Southern Heights Recreational Park in La Paz. The conference aimed to convey the role of futures thinking and strategic foresight in the university’s operations, build capacity for outside-the-box, long-term planning, and anticipatory policy-making, generate initiatives and insights into the dynamics of future developments in the university, and pitch and cascade the crafted futures thinking initiatives to the 5-year development plan of the university. The first two days were dedicated to the meticulous crafting and presentation of strategic initiatives, contributing to a comprehensive roadmap that laid the foundation for the university’s future endeavors. Participants from various university offices were convened during the conference, fostering collaboration among decision-makers from the Office of the President and Offices of the Vice Presidents, including the Administration and Finance, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and Services and Research Development and Extension. Beyond intellectual pursuits, the conference seamlessly blended recreation into its schedule. Activities such as invigorating Zumba sessions and a lively fellowship night added a vibrant touch to the academic proceedings, fostering a holistic and collaborative environment. The workshop, spearheaded by ZPPSU-VPAF Prof. Josephine L. Sulasula, along with the dynamic steering committee, including Engr. Edabel Jane Falcasantos, Arch. Fatima Shallemar Pattaalam, Engr. Emrayda Nagdar; Ms. Maura Elise Valesco, Anthony B. Colico, and Keith Carlou Jaramilla. Moreover, ZPPSU President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral graced the workshop, along with the oversight committee led by VPAF Prof. Josephine L. Sulasula, VPAA Dr. Roy L. Valesco, VPRE Dr. Bonnie A. Andabon, and VPSAS Dr. Ma. CAREER COACHING FOR BS-INFO TECH

All graduating students of Bachelor of Information Technology (BSIT) underwent a two-day career coaching with ZPPSU – Career Services and Public Employment Service Office (CSPESO) Director Prof. Anna Maria Gomez at the CICS Computer Laboratory recently. The event helps the students build their skills and capabilities to improve their job-searching skills and how they would impress hiring managers. Dr. Gomez has also shared labor market information and informed of the available pre-employment services for local applicants. ZPPSU Paves the Way for Future Excellence

An insightful pre-workshop in preparation for the upcoming three-day Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight Conference was held at the ZPPSU Gymnasium today, January 22. The conference is scheduled from January 24 to 26 at the Southern Heights Recreational Park. Guided by ZPPSU Vice President for Administration and Finance, Prof. Josephine Sulasula, and the esteemed steering committee, which includes ZPPSU Planning and Programming Director Engr. Edabel Jane Falcasantos, Arch. Fatima Shallemar Pattaalam, Engr. Emrayda Nagdar and Ms. Maura Elise Valesco, the event aimed at creating a progressive experience.
