ZPPSU Quebete represents PH in int’l fashion skills contest

ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY (PIO) — Ms. Stela Maris Quebete, a graduating student of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology major in Garments and Textile Technology (BSIT-GTT) of the university, represented the Philippines in the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition, held at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, Pasay City last month.

Quebete, along with the National Capital Region contender, faced off with competitors from Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia in the Fashion Technology category.

Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University officials headed by President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral with Vice President for Administration and Finance Ms. Josephine L. Sulasula, were present in the world’s competition to express support to the student — the humble pride of the university in garments and textile technology.

To note, Quebete won ‘silver’ during the Philippine National Skills Competition in Fashion Technology last August 2024, which became her ticket to represent the Philippines at the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition — a contest for fashion skills in Southeast Asia archipelago.

Surabay National High School, her alumni school, firmly believed in her globally competitive potential and capability to stand shoulder to shoulder with anyone.

“She is living proof that the dream doesn’t end in the classroom. It grows, it perseveres, and now, it continues to shine as she carries the Philippine flag at ASEAN,” the national high school quoted.

Ms. Juvelyn M. Jaukal, served as her coach in the competition.

Also present in the competition were ZPPSU Board Secretary Ms. Lilia Vesorio, College of Engineering and Technology Dean Engr. Jennifer Gargar, and Ms. Fati Mae G. Fernandez. (JRA/ABC/Photos: Ms. Fati Mae Fernandez/Public Information Office)
