ZPPSU Gears Up Rehiyon Nueve, Strengthens Final Preps

Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) Athletes that will represent Region IX on the upcoming State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) National Games on Camiguin Island this April 22-27 did final meeting with key officials for a flawless delegation. Vice-President for Student Affairs and Services, Dr. Cyrus Pil Cadavedo led the pre-departure meeting emphasizing vital factors for winning and important reminders highlighting responsible athletic character. Moreover, University Sports Development Office Head, Dr. Dexter Paclibar, talked-through clear instructions on the delegation reminders for pre, during, and post game activities. Also gracing the gathering was University Physician Dr. Franz Chezka Ochotorena, ISPS Director- Prof. Clarissa Acac, and DRRMO Director- Dr. Michael Cabiles. Distribution of allowances and athletic uniforms was also held together with a forum for other concerns by the athletes and coaches. ZamPen is #SCUAA2025 ready

Student-athletes from different State Colleges and Universities in Zamboanga Peninsula joined in the send-off ceremony held at Western Mindanao State University today, April 15. The athletes in the entire Region IX, have joined to come up with a bolder and stronger sports team to compete in the upcoming National SCUAA National Games 2025 from April 22 to 27 at Camiguin Island. The national games are expected to have more than 8,000 delegates from other regions across the country. Further, Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University has a total of 104 delegates including students, coaches, and officials. WMSU will carry a total of 56 delegates, ZCSMST with 18, JHCerilles with 97, and 204 from the JRMSU. The highlights of the activity were the presentation of student-athletes in various sports, the orientation of house rules, and other important messages and announcements. The event was graced by the ZPPSU delegates headed by ZPPSU Sports Director Dr. Dexter T. SM Mall Zamboanga and Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University will soon be partners in paving the way for a cleaner and greener Zamboanga City. To create awareness about recycling and its benefits to the general public, representatives from the two agencies have recently sat for the innovative ‘Trash to Cash’ program. This collaboration not only supports the local economy but also fosters a culture of environmental stewardship among the communities. Tzu Chi gives free reading eyewear to ZPPSU employees

As part of its optical mission to improve vision and provide quality eye care for all, Tzu Chi Zamboanga gave out free reading glasses among employees of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, held at the Medical-Dental Building on April 14. The event was fully coordinated by the ZPPSU – Medical and Dental Health Services Office and the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, where a total of 162 free reading glasses were duly distributed to employees aged 30 and above. This humanitarian initiative led by ZPPSU-Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Cyrus Pil Cadavedo, highlights the importance of promoting occupational health and safety by ensuring a clear and comfortable vision for everyone. The initiative was represented by Tzu Chi Program Officer Mr. Aldizhar A. NSTP-ZPPSU HOSTS GIFT-GIVING EVENT AT LAPAKAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

On April 11, 2025, the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) National Service Training Program (NSTP), organized a heartwarming gift-giving event aimed at providing educational success by providing the learners of Lapakan Elementary School with school supplies, personal kits, snacks, and activities. The event, which took place at the Multi-purpose Hall of Lapakan Elementary School, was intended to provide students with school supplies, personal kits, snacks, and fun activities. These items were carefully prepared to meet the basic needs of the Lapakan Elementary School students to support their ongoing educational pursuits. The event was led by the NSTP Director, Prof. Maria Cathie Q. Aljas, joined by NSTP Assistant Director Ms. Dinky Bazan, CWTS Coordinator Mr. James Florence A. Cabral, LTS Coordinator Mr. Mark Anthony Mejares, ROTC Coordinator Ms. Janete G. Pangilinan, and the dedicated team of NSTP faculty, training staff, and NSTP students. Together, they worked to make this event a success and deliver a meaningful experience to Lapakan Elementary School students. Special thanks to Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, University President, Dr. Maria Christina G. SSS, ZPPSU hustle for job order employees’ boon

A convention dubbed, “Know Your SSS” was held to urge job order employees, contract-of-service, and visiting lecturers of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University to be members of the Social Security System insurance program, held at the College of Maritime Education today, April 11. To note, the Social Security System (SSS) provides financial protection to workers in private, professional, and informal sectors against death, disability, sicknesses, maternity, and old age. Meanwhile, the ZPPSU through the Vice President for Administration and Finance Ms. Josephine Sulasula, conformed to share the university’s part to employees’ contribution to the SSS. The Memorandum of Agreement between the two agencies is still yet to be arranged. The orientation proper is led by SSS personnel — CEO II, Ms. Cecile Cadavedo, Senior Analyst Mr. Luis S. Tuvera Jr., Junior Analyst Mr. Richard S. Culajara, MSR Mr. Moh. Ar-rafih R. Jamalul, and Senior Clerk Ms. Nyla Jean P. Galicia. ITE faculty members get free TESDA trainer’s methodology

𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐃𝐀 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 To amplify the technical expertise of the lecturers among the forty (40) faculty members of the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) department of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, the final orientation of the 33-day Trainer’s Methodology Level 1 training was held at the Accreditation Room, today. The endorsed participants will complete a total of 264 hours and will follow a blended delivery mode, which will be facilitated by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). “We will give you the best option possible. We are humbled because we will be teaching the experts in the field,” said Regional Training Center Zamboanga Administrator Ms. Jocelyn C. Wee. Further, ZPPSU Vice President for Administration and Finance Ms. Josephine Sulasula, marked that this is a significant step in the institution’s commitment to professional development, quality instruction, and the empowerment of the personnel as future trainers and facilitators of technical and vocational education. “Let us embrace this opportunity to enhance not only our individual growth but also our institutional capacity to deliver excellence in training and education,” VP Sulasula affirmed. The trainers are set to receive a scholarship grant worth 11,800 pesos each, as aid in the entire training period. Representing the TESDA ZCICDO-District Director, Mr. Omarkhayyam I.
