ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY — The Memorandum of Agreement between the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Regional Office IX has been officially and formally inked, held in the Accreditation Room today, February 13.

The ceremonial signing was represented by ZPPSU President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral and TESDA-RO IX Acting Regional Director Engr. Alan T. Bacatan, and personally witnessed by the Deputy Director General for TESD Operations, Hon. Vidal D. Villanueva III.

To note, the TESDA-ZPPSU partnership renewal, collaboration, and program strengthening for the Institute of Technical Education was duly proposed by Vice President for Administration and Finance Ms. Josephine L. Sulasula.

“This is not merely a ceremonial affirmation but a strategic and forward-looking alliance grounded in shared responsibilities. We pursue and remain committed to continue innovating more programs, especially that you have facilities that continue to deliver technical excellence and technical vocational education,” TESDA Acting Regional Director Engr. Bacatan said.

The agency is committed to supporting the university to align the diploma programs in accordance with the national standards.
“TESDA-9 commits to supporting the university in delivering TESDA registered programs, enhancing faculty qualifications through our training methodology as trainers and competency assessors. We will facilitate the graduation of your assessment center accreditation and provide a technical system for the upgrading of facilities in accordance with the national standards,” Engr. Bacatan added.

Further, ZPPSU President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral marked the partnership as a significant milestone for the university.
“This MOA concretizes a formal collaboration mutually beneficial on a shared vision of empowering individuals through accessible, relevant, and high-quality technical-vocational education and training. ZPPSU is firmly committed to aligning our skills – development programs with industry standards, national qualification frameworks, and not to miss, the evolving demands of the labor market,” Dr. Cabral emphasized.

Through this partnership, the ZPPSU pledge to strengthen competency-based training, assessment, certification, and lifelong learning opportunities for our students and community stakeholders, as well as to recognize that technical vocational education is a powerful driver of inclusive growth, employability, and sustainable development.
“As a state university deeply rooted in service to the region, ZPPSU commits to providing the necessary institutional support, facilities, expertise, and innovation to ensure the success of this ZPPSU-TESDA Collaboration,” Dr. Cabral affirmed.

TESDA-9 is also hopeful to have a successful alliance with the university.
