ZPPSU spirits ignite in MASTS ’25 opening

ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY (PIO) — Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) delegates carried the university’s banner with pride and honor during the opening ceremony of the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Friendship Games 2025, held at the Misamis Occidental Provincial Athletic Complex (MOPAC) Grandstand, Oroquieta City tonight, October 26.

Over nine thousand delegates from thirty-five (35) participating state universities and colleges across Mindanao archipelago, convened to showcase athletics and artistic talents, celebrate sportsmanship, and build ties among state universities and colleges.

“We are fully delighted to witness this grand convergence of educators, coaches, student athletes, artists, and leaders all gathered here for a common purpose — to showcase excellence in sports and arts, and celebrate our identity as Mindanaoans,” expressed the keynote speaker, Misamis Occidental Provincial Governor Hon. Henry Sevilla Oaminal Sr.

Meanwhile, President of MASTS and Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, officially opened the MASTS Games this year, and conveyed his deep appreciation to the Misamisnons for cordially accepting and welcoming the delegates to compete for different sports and sociocultural competitions.

Together with Dr. Cabral, were Vice Governor of Misamis Occidental Province Hon. Rowena L. Gutierrez, NMSCST OIC-President Dr. Kris Mae B. Lagang as the host university, and SUC Presidents in Mindanao.

Moreover, the opening ceremony also highlighted the grandest and breathtaking fireworks display.

The ZPPSU key leaders and coaches showed their fullest support for all the ZPPSU student athletes.
