ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY (PIO) — In pursuit of building an amplified academic and research excellence, Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) – Graduate School hosted a three-day training workshop on Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), held at Seafood Restaurant in San Roque, Zamboanga City from September 1 to 3 this year.
Resource speaker Dr. Sarah O. Namoco, an expert on the use of structural equation modeling, has imparted her knowledge in the field of statistical software, including SPSS and Smart PLS, that is essential to undertake in-depth research in education and in technology acceptance studies.

The research-oriented training was designed to equip faculty members with advanced SEM techniques, enhancing their capacity to conduct rigorous, high-impact research.
In addition, the aforementioned workshop will enable researchers to analyze complex data, validate theoretical models, and contribute valuable insights to the field of education, ultimately fostering evidence-based practices and improving educational outcomes.

Meanwhile, ZPPSU researchers are expected to take the lead in applying these methods to bring a fresh perspective to the academic community.
The research-driven initiative was spearheaded by the ZPPSU Graduate School, headed by the Dean of the Graduate School Dr. Elizabeth Jane Sebastian.

The workshop was dubbed “Strengthening Research Competencies for Academic Excellence.” (ABC/JRA/Photos: JBM/Public Information Office)
