ZPPSU-SHS claims awards in DSPC 2024

The student-journalists of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University – Senior High School (ZPPSU-SHS) emerged as victors from the recently concluded Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), which was held at the Zamboanga Central School SPED Center. The said conference was hosted by the Zamboanga City Division Office (ZCDO) and participated by endowed contenders from the different secondary education institutions in two categories (English and Tagalog). On school paper-based english category competition, The Main Coast (TMC) Publication bagged the following awards: Editorial section – 5th Place Feature section – 4th Place Layout design – 5th Place News section – 4th Place Science and Technology section – 5th Place Sports section – 5th Place 4th Overall School Paper – 4th Place In the Filipino category, Ang Daluyan (AD) ranked the following: Pagsulat ng Editorial – 9th Place Pagsulat ng Lathalain – 9th Place Paglayout at Pagdidisensyo – 3rd Place Pagsulat ng Balita – 4th Place Kabuoang Papel – 6th Place INDIVIDUAL CATEGORY (English Secondary): Editorial Writing (2nd Place) – VIELLEZER APELACIO Editorial Cartooning (7th Place) – MATT LYNDON POLIDARIO News Writing (3rd Place) – MADZMHER AWALI Science and Technology Writing (1st Place) – JEREMY ABIDIN Sports Writing (7th Place) – AL-KHALEEL TAN INDIBIDWAL NA KATEGORYA (Filipino Secondary): Pagsulat ng Balita (7th Place) – FRITZIE ROSE REGINIO Dibuho (1st Place) – RICMEL AMIAS The participation of the student-journalists was spearheaded by the head of the Office of the School Publication and TMC Publication Adviser Prof. Mark Anthony A. Pres. Cabral praises RD Ridao’s contributions to Mindanao SUCs

Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral conveyed a heartfelt message lauding the exemplary dedication and commitment of National Economic and Development Authority Regional Director Phlorita A. Ridao, emphasizing her significant role as one of the most active trustees or regents among the six State Universities and Colleges (SUCS) in Mindanao, held at Mardale Hotel and Convetion Center, Pagadian, Zamboanga Del Sur. “RD Ridao’s presence, ideas, inputs, and overall contributions in all board meetings clearly reflect her unwavering dedication and commitment as the head of the NEDA-9,” President Cabral stressed. Dr. Cabral further commended Ridao’s invaluable participation in various board undertakings, showcasing her expertise, willingness to share opinions, and ability to engage in constructive arguments when necessary. He also highlighted her generosity in providing solutions to pertinent issues. Among those who expressed gratitude and bid farewell to RD Ridao were DOST Regional Director Hon. Martin A. Wee, Western Mindanao State University President Dr. Ma Carla A. Ochotorena, Jose Rizal Memorial State University President Dr. Maria Rio Abdon Naguit, J.H Cerilles State College President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, and Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology President Dr. Jaime Jalon. The thanksgiving and despedida celebration , organized by the WMSU, served as a fitting tribute to RD Ridao. OJT ORIENTATION FOR DT & TITE COURSES

Delving into the realm of professional technical education, 3rd-year students from the Diploma of Technology and Trade Industrial Technical Education underwent the On-the-Job Training Orientation Program at the ZPPSU gymnasium today, February 07. A total of nine DT and one TITE programs were duly oriented. The program aims to expose higher education students to real-life work experience and to improve the productivity and work motivations of the trainees. Further, the ZPPSU committed to ensuring the safe working environment of the students from first to last day of their proper training. The ZPPSU functionaries who are involved in the deployment of the OJTs were present to include VP for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Maria Christina Wee, Institute of Technical Education Dean Prof. Norwesa Madriaga, OJT-Apprenticeship and Placement Director Clarisa Acac and other key officials. #OneZPPSU

To reconnect with the respective religions of the students and employees, Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University – Multifaith Services joined in the spreading message of harmony and peace in the world’s observance of Interfaith Harmony Week. Archdiocesan Youth Coordinator in Zamboanga City Hon. Mark Anthony Saavedra graced the event emphasizing the impacts of having a peaceful and harmonious lives amidst diversified faiths. Dr. Aminda Saño of the Silsilah Movement Dialogue has also shared her message of peace. The event was headed by ZPPSU-Multifaith Services Director Mr. Elmer Atilano. #OneZPPSU

Future teachers take the challenge of practice teaching

To embrace the noblest profession in the world, more than 250 fourth-year students from the College of Teacher Education of the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) committed to be professional Pre-Service Teachers during the pinning ceremony held at the Grand Astoria Hotel, February 1. With their proud parents and special loved ones, the aspiring teachers slowly walked in the aisle with so much hope and pride that finally, one of their million dreams would be soon fulfilled. 91 students from the Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED), 66 from the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED), 41 from the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED), 49 from the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED), and 31 from the Bachelor of Secondary Education in Mathematics (BSED-Math) were officially pinned. CTE Dean Dr. Rolando Malalay has emphasized the importance of pinning ceremony — to oversee the successful transition of students to practice teachers. “The university is ready to help shape the professional life of our teachers and prepare them to take the challenges on educational paradigms,” Dr. Malalay said. The pinned ZPPSU educators are expected to have their internship program during the 2nd semester this year in different esteemed primary and secondary schools in Zamboanga City. KALAHI-CIDDS IN ZPPSU ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY CAMPUSES

Students from the three Extension Program Delivering Units of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University in Zamboanga Sibugay Province were given an opportunity to avail of the Cash for Work Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently. A total of 121 beneficiaries, of which 41 from Malangas campus, 40 from Siay campus, and 40 from Kabasalan campus, were officially validated. To note, the DSWD – KALAHI CIDDS is funded by the good office of Senator Imee Marcos. ZPPSU-Career Services and Public Employment Service Office headed by Prof. Anna Maria Gomez with Prof. Zcharina Tinaytina and the DSWD-9 staff personally visited the EPDU campuses for validation and orientation proper.
